About us

My name is Boris, and I am the founder of Black Phoenix Woodworking.

Woodworking started as a hobby of mine after falling in love with it in high school. In the following years, I expanded my knowledge by figuring things out and built working relationships with other local woodworkers. My skills and passion grew with the complexity of my projects: from building something simple with my dad such as a birdhouse to restoring our outdoor furniture, my hobby developed into my career.

Although we have been operating for years, Black Phoenix Woodworking was formally established in 2021. Over the years, we have expanded from a two-car garage with limited “do not turn on the microwave or the TV” power to a warehouse with the space and power to use every piece of equipment at the same time if needed.

We are located in the United States of America. Everything we craft is built locally here in Illinois and sold throughout the US. All of our artwork is designed by either in-house or local guest artists who keep things unique and original.

Our goal is to bring people/families together by allowing everyone to enjoy the warmth of the custom wood pieces in their homes. Our favorite projects are challenging, interesting, or personalized. Each project we take on, big or small, is a learning experience and the most exciting part is finding solutions to get the best result for our customers. For us, creation is not just about the destination - we enjoy the journey.
